Review

Eating & Exercise is a game/simulation about the human body and food intake. It consists of a cartoon representation of the human body. You then input some information about it, like weight, age, height, and body fat. Most of those values get calculated automatically as you type them in. To the right of that is a screen where you calculate your daily food intake and the calories that you burn each day. When you are done inputting the info about your body, the application will automatically calculate your body's basal metabolism (the calories that it uses for basic bodily functions). On top of that, you can add foods to your day by dragging the examples provided to a plate. Also, there are a few activities that you can add to your exercise log (basketball, swimming, etc). Each of those foods and exercises will be added to the calories that you get and the ones that you burn, respectively. After that is done, you can start a simulation that will simulate the effects of such a diet on your body. Eating and exercise will calculate weight loss or gain over a period of time. It will also simulate the strain on your heart and its strength over time.

The disclaimer specifies that you shouldn't use this app as a fool-proof way to determine how to create a diet. And that every person is different, but it still is very useful. A nice touch is that when you get too skinny and your heart can't do its job anymore, you get the famous "game over".
  • VERY illustrative.
  • Many factors can be changed.
  • None.
